Menka is an internationally acclaimed poet, columnist and writer.
As a journalist she has worked with Indian and global media imprints like South China Morning Post, Mid-day, Afternoon Despatch and Courier, Business India and the Observer Group. She was also a columnist for over a decade with Hindu Business Line,besides writing literary columns for The Pioneer and The Daily Star.
A co-founder of The Source, she heads the firm’s content division and has strategized, conceived, launched and edited several publications that were outsourced to the firm by media houses. These include Times Property, ET Realty and Times Motoring for the Times of India Group, Every Tuesday, a weekly arts and culture journal for Ace Publications, and Health & Wellness, Women’s World and 48 Hours for Afternoon Despatch and Courier, a Mumbai newspaper.
Along with Raju, she has edited/co-authored thirteen books.
As a poet, Menka has four collections of poetry to her credit besides being co-translator of an anthology of Sindhi Partition poetry, published by Sahitya Akademi in 1998. She has also edited three other anthologies of poems.
Menka’s poems have appeared in several publications, both in India and elsewhere. As Mumbai coordinator for the global movement, 100 Thousand Poets for Change, Menka has been organizing an annual poetry festival for the last several years. In 1986, she played a key role in setting up the Poetry Circle in Mumbai.
